Description
Phonemic awareness activities are essential to early learning for a child. It’s important to set a routine in your classroom that explores quick and easy practice with phonemic awareness. I created these ring cards to help during my small group time and to save time trying to think of words.
This phonemic awareness set is specific to producing rhyming and identifying word pairs that rhyme or do not rhyme. The cards that have a pair of pictures also have the word names printed on the back. This is essential in saving time when showing students cards during your limited small group time. I pull off three cards and can quickly flash them without looking at the front of the card for the pictures since I have the words on the back.
There is also a mat of words to help when you can’t think of words that will produce a rhyming word and 4 prompts for rhyming practice. Your students will be able to practice hearing rhyming words on a regular basis even if they aren’t developmentally ready. The more practice that their ears get with hearing different sounds, the easier it will be for them to master their phonemic awareness skills when they are ready.
Included:
– 54 picture cards with two images (words can be printed on back)
– 54 single picture cards
– Rhyme Prompts
– List of words for ideas
