Description
Black history figures are important to teach in the primary grades. This resource was created with the kindergarten and first grade classroom in mind. If you’re looking for figures that are not commonly taught, I’ve included some wonderful men and women.
This unit provides resources to help you introduce and keep your black history learning exciting. This can easily be integrated into your literacy and writing blocks. With this, you’ll be able to learn facts about 10 African American historical figures, retain the information, and record learnings. This resource includes a nonfiction book. This book is at the end of the pdf file. You can print as is and create a book or you can project it. I like to project the page we’re discussing each day.
This resource also includes multiple graphic organizers so you may differentiate for your learners. You have KWL headers to guide your learning as you read books. These are included in both color AND b/w. Real photographs are included to help your students put a face to the facts. These can be use on a writing wall, as vocabulary cards or as flash cards. Students love being able to pick up and use these cards in their writing.
This packet is great to help with your anchor charts, extending your guided reading lessons, whole group introduction to Black History month, and so much MORE!
