You Oughta Know... How NOT to miss another Freebie.

I am joining in on the fun with Jasmine from Buzzing with Mrs. McClain

I think that everyone should know, HOW NOT to miss a flash freebie or how to save a freebie when you're not near your computer. I have been shopping, outside, riding in the car, over to a friend's, or simply just not at home when I've scrolled down FB on my phone to see that I have 2 minutes left on a flash freebie that is specifically for my grade level AND something that I would love to have. How many times has this happened to you? Too many to count? Yeah, me too. Well I'm here to show you the easiest way that I have found. I'm sure there are tons of different ways to do this, but I'm just showing you what I do. Here goes. Be sure to pin any images so you can reference this later and share with a friend.

I own an  iPhone so I am not sure if it works for Android phones. Go into your apps store and download Dropbox. You can always go back and add it to your computer later, but we're just working with the phone right now. Find a freebie that you'd like to practice with. It can be anything.

I found a freebie on Pinterest.

If the link takes you to a blog and it is not on TPT, you can skip the TPT file downloading part and just click it like you normally would. Skip step 5 and 6.

After it opens in Safari or Google Chrome or the browser that you have installed on your phone, click download now.

You may or may not see the option that is grayed out at the very top. If you do not see the two options, click the file. It will have the option to Open in... OR Open in iBooks. You should click Open in... This will bring up the options that you have to view it. Slide over to the right if you do not see Dropbox. Click on Dropbox to open the app.

Click on Dropbox to save it in that folder. If you do not have additional folders in Dropbox, it will simply save it in the main folder. If you're like me and you save everything here, click the folder that you'd like to save the freebie to.

After you've browsed through the folders and found the correct one, click save. It saves it. When you get good at it, you'll save a freebie in less than a minute and you'll never worry about missing another freebie again. Easy peasy, huh? This method ensures that no matter what computer I login to, I'll be able to see all the files that I have downloaded. I don't worry about saving things on my school computer that I can't see on my home computer. Everything is saved in dropbox and I can access it on any computer, whether it belongs to me or not.

Be sure to check out the other link ups for You Oughta Know to get some great ideas this week!

  3. There are bloggers who offer their flash freebies in Google Drive or Google docs. Although I am able to view them, I am not able to download or save them to Dropbox using my iPhone or iPad. Is there any way to save flash freebies offered through Google Docs/Drive?

    1. There should be a download option on google drive as well and then save that download file where you want.

    2. Cherie, you can also email it to yourself. That is what I do since I don't find DropBox as convenient. I click to download it and when it opens, I click the document, use my iphone with the little up arrow at the bottom to email it to myself.

  4. I am going to try this! Thank you!

  5. Great tip! I hate when I see a freebie on my phone, but I'm not by my computer to snag it. I'll have to try this next time!

    Thanks again,

  6. That is such a brilliant idea! I even have dropbox downloaded on my iPhone but I never thought to save flash freebies to it! DUH! Thanks for the tip!!
