Teacher Week 2013: Meet the Teacher

I decided to join in on all the happenings this week over at Blog Hoppin'. There is a WEEK long linky. Today is Meet the Teacher. SO it's ALLLLL about ME! I made my own rule of 10 things so I wouldn't go overBOARD. Warning: Most random post EVER.

The basics. My name is Keri. I am going into my 6th year of teaching. I live in Alabama. I taught Kindergarten for four years, then a year of 1st and back down to K. I am very excited to be back in Kindergarten. I LOVED first grade, however. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

I am a single mother of one. My baby! Her name is Paris. No I did not name her after Paris Hilton. I get asked that, a lot! She is six years old and seriously acts like an old grandma. She sleeps ALL the time! ALL DAY! She rules the house. The neighborhood and anything else (in her head). Sometimes, I believe she thinks she is a pitbull.

One of my ABSOLUTE most favorite things to do in life is traveling. I LOVE to be on the go. Plane rides, train rides, boat rides, ship rides, car rides - whatever. I love exploring new places. I am known to invite myself onto other people's trips... the left picture above, I invited myself onto a week cruise that my parents were going on - LOL. Total third wheel and I had the BEST time ever exploring and doing things alone. They decided to go to Aruba in December... can you tell they didn't want me to go? It's at the VERY beginning of December. I can't get out of school for that! I'm sure they will have fun - a lot of people are going on that one.

I have been on 9 or 10 cruises. Did I mention how much I LOVE traveling? Roatan, Honduras has been my absolute favorite place to visit so far. It was so beautiful. I loved it there. Seriously, you all need to see it. Very calming and peaceful and we had a wonderful driver, Oscar. Very blessed to be able to see so many different places.

I love the BEACH! I hate tanning... can you tell? LOL. My friends were tanning during spring break and I opted out of a tan except for my legs. Best. Sleep. Ever. I did have an umbrella and chair out there that day though.

I have a wide range in my taste of music. Two of my LONGTIME absolute favorites. Backstreet Boys. So happy Kev came back. I can seriously listen to their music on repeat forever. And Usher (I took that pic). SWOOOOOOOOOOONS! I've only been to one BSB concert and I've seen Usher twice. He's seriously a good time. I love concerts. Such a great experience, but I only go when I have awesome seats. I'm obsessed like that.

I'm from Alabama. Football is HUGE here. With all the love in my heart - I DISLIKE FOOTBALL. Not an Alabama or Auburn fan and will never choose. I am a loyal LAKERS fan since middle school. LAKERNATION! LAKESHOW! I hope they come out of that mess from last season.

In my spare time, which is usually never, I like to scrap and craft. I got into wreaths last year and this is one of my favorites. Most of my wreaths are mesh or yarn wreaths, but these are always fun to make.

Recently, I was asked, "Why do you always do your mouth like that?" And I had NO clue what my friend was talking about until I got an explanation and I went back to look at my pictures. WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY MOUTH?!?!?! Seriously folks, I have been doing this for YEARS and didn't realize it.

If you can't tell by the randomness of this post about myself, I am very random and slightly weird. I love it. Last thing about ME - I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE that I fell in love with children and changed my major during my 3rd year of college. I planned to graduate with a Computer Science degree, but that changed. I would never go back to that. Teaching brings so many different fulfilling emotions that it's not explainable. I hope that you love what you do as much as I do. I wouldn't change it for anything in the world.

What other job would I get to look like this for a day?

Here's the schedule for the rest of the week. I can't wait to read about some new people and find new blogs to follow!

And if you made it ALLLLLLL the way down here - I just posted something that I made for me... told y'all I can never think of random things. I just make stuff that I want lol. Since today is my 1st day back at WORK - I'm having a today discount of $1.00. Tomorrow, it will go up a dollar and so on. It will end up at $4.00... I think. I was thinking something else, but it will probably be $4. ANYHOO - 81 pages including an editable ppt. My plan is to get it printed and into a wonderful binder today after our morning meeting. ALSO - I'll post this on Teacher's Notebook tomorrow maybe. I'm having a sale on my things over there. 25% off everything.
